Il Miglio on St Laurent Boulevard offers a straightforward but thoughtfully executed Italian pasta experience right in Montreal’s Mile End. It’s not a traditional sit-down restaurant with cozy booths or dim lighting, but rather a bright, casual spot centered around a large communal high table and a few stools. This setup encourages a quick, social lunch or an easy weekday dinner where the focus is squarely on the food itself rather than ambiance.

The pasta here is clearly fresh and made to order, with generous portions that satisfy without feeling fussy. Dishes like the Campanelle aux Champignons, which combines mushroom sauce with veal jus and truffle, have a rich depth of flavor that nods to authentic Italian roots while bringing in subtle, possibly French or other fusion influences. Other comforting options include meat or cheese lasagna, gnocchi in tomato sauce, and classic tiramisu for dessert.

Because of the minimalist dining layout—mostly one large shared table with some window seating—Il Miglio is best suited for those who don’t plan to linger for hours. It works well for nearby workers grabbing a quick, elevated lunch, a casual dinner with friends, or anyone seeking a no-frills pasta fix in a lively Mile End neighborhood spot. The staff here are attentive and patient, making it easy to ask questions about the dishes.

If you’re passing through the area during the workweek midday or early evening, you’ll likely find a crowd of locals who appreciate the efficient, unfussy service combined with distinctly Italian flavors. Weekends or late dinners might be less ideal given the venue’s focused hours and setup, but for a flavorful pasta break, Il Miglio fits neatly into the local scene as a modern, casual trattoria-style option that doesn’t overcomplicate what pasta should be.

My husband frequents Il Miglio for lunch since he works closeby. We have gone together twice for dinner and will continue to be repeat customers. The pasta is fresh and delicious and made quick to order. It’s like a cafeteria style trattoria (but with a cooler vibe and a huge island table to sit at;)) Our favorite is the mushroom pasta! (Forgot the name). If you’re in the area for lunch or looking for a quick dinner after work, check it out

Food is surprisingly good with really Italian flavor. Staff is great. But there's not much of an atmosphere to enjoy; there is only one long and high table with many chairs to share and another by the window. They prepare the food on demand and there is a fridge and some shelves on the side with Italian imported products. I ordered the campenelle dish and it was really good. I know the entrance is not very welcoming as you cannot see inside and the facade is dark, but overcome that first impression and you won't have any regrets.

Also new and interesting for us. A modern casual Italian place with some fusional elements, maybe French maybe Asian. Really generous portion. More to explore. Will return sometime. Dish tried Campanelle aux champignons / Campanelle with mushroom sauce "Campanelle, champignons, jus de veau et truffe" Why 5 stars Pasta well-cooked ; owner/staff was very patient with questions ; take-out specialist ° UPDATE 1 New dishes/items tried Linguini, pesto de pistache et crevettes/Linguini, pistachio pesto and shrimps = Excellent, worth repeating together with the Campanelle champignons Spaghetti alla carbonara "Carbonara classique: œuf, pecorino, guanciale et poivre" = cheese(s) (combined) were too sharp and too strong and the pork cheek too salty for us Tiramisu = Excellent Pôt citron et noix de coco/Coconut and lemon jar = Very good °

Nice little pasta shop with affordable pasta options. Great for a quick meal, not ideal for staying long. Big stools and bar seating. The pasta was good and the caccio peppe sauce was delicious

I loved loved loved ilmigliomontreal when I went yesterday. I only wish I could go here more during the week but it's hours of (Monday-Friday from 11:30-3) hinder me from going here at least once a week, because I would! Might be a good thing because I'd probably go more and gain 5 pounds a week from eating so much pasta. . The people behind this beautifully put together restaurant are Giovanni Rasile, Michele Mercuri, Claude Pelletier and Hubert Marsolais. Between the four of them they are also responsible for other amazing restaurants around the city such as restaurantleserpent, leclubchasseetpeche and restaurantlefilet. . Looking at ilmigliomontreal, this spot is truly a marval. From the time you walk into this 25 seat restaurant and see the long communal table, you feel that this is a place where you can come, sit, eat a great meal on your lunch break, and maybe share a story or two with your neighbour. . I remember asking, what is one of your signature dishes? The dish that if I need to base my whole experience from here on out, what would you recommend me? She answered without any hesitation, get the Carbonara. . I take one bite. One single bite. And as cheesy as it sounds transported me back to Italy. It was so rich and so creamy. The homemade pasta was cooked so perfectly. It had the right amount of spice from the pepper, the right amount of savory and sweet from the parmesan. Everything about this dish, from a simple guy who loves to eat good quality food, at a great price, loved ilmigliomontreal! . I'd recommend this place to anyone who is in the area of Mile End to try during there lunch and eat some amazing pastas at 5235 Boulevard Saint-Laurent.

Exceptionally fresh pasta and homemade sauces. The lasagna is one of if not my favourite in the city. Alternating takeout menu and lots of great specialized grocery options. If you’re in the mood for Italian, Il Miglio definitely has you covered!
